Tracing and Classifying Norse Influence on English with Sara Pons-Sanz

***Sold Out***

When we think of Viking treasure, we tend to bring to mind spectacular finds such as the Cuerdale or the Galloway hoards.

Yet the hundreds of Norse-derived terms that we use on a daily basis in English are amongst the most significant ‘artefacts’ the Vikings left behind. This talk  by Sara Pons-Sanz of Cardiff University and the Gersum Project  will explore the influence of Old Norse on the English language, the evidence that we have for the identification of Norse-derived terms and the cultural and sociolinguistic information that they provide.

Pre-booking essential due to limited spaces
